CREW-Atlanta is one of nine CREW chapters selected to implement a pilot program called CREW Careers, a unique initiative sponsored by CREW Foundation.
CREW Careers: Building Opportunities is a participatory classroom program initially designed for teenage girls and entitled "Commercial Real Estate 101." This program will use one or more local real estate projects to illustrate all aspects of a commercial real estate project (taking it from raw land through a tenanted project) in order to showcase all types of career opportunities in commercial real estate.
CREW-Atlanta will present a one-day format in cooperation with a local girls' group, such as Girls Inc. or the Girl Scouts. CREW-Atlanta's second annual program is planned for April 2006. More details to be announced.
Some of the program objectives as outlined by CREW Foundation include:
- To help achieve parity between men and women by introducing more young women to the commercial real estate industry.
- To achieve diversity by establishing the ground work necessary to increase gender and ethnic diversity within the commercial real estate industry.
- To give back by showcasing career opportunities available in the commercial real estate industry to underprivileged girls and girls of various ethnic backgrounds.
- To create visibility for CREW-Atlanta by assisting girls in learning about careers in commercial real estate.
- To feel good about helping young women identify new opportunities for self improvement, reach for new horizons or begin a path to economic self sufficiency.
