Compassion in Action

CREW-Atlanta established Compassion in Action (CIA) in 1993 to give back to our city that has given so much to us. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, CREW-Atlanta has granted approximately $1.2 million through Atlanta Women's Foundation, which benefits homeless women and children. Approximately 16,625 Atlanta women and children will suffer a shortage of our most basic need - shelter. Nearly 14% of our city's homeless are women and children, yet only a nominal bed-space in shelters is set aside for them. These alarming statistics reveal how essential our help is - CREW-Atlanta has found a way to make a difference.

The annual Compassion in Action event has changed since its inception. What started as annual luncheon, with such dynamic speakers as Jane Fonda, Ted Turner and Rosalyn Carter, has grown into an elegant, black-tie gala. The past several years have featured performances from award-winning musicians, such as Tony Bennett, The Pointer Sisters, Lou Rawls and KC and the Sunshine Band.

DeLowe Village, CREW-Atlanta's first supportive housing initiative, offers affordable housing facility with space for support services to women and families in need. A second such project is in the planning stages and will be announced in 2006.
